The draft strategy responds to sustained population growth in Outer Rim settlements, where housing supply has struggled to keep pace with demand from new arrivals and expanding local industries.

What the draft proposes

The draft strategy sets out a ten-year plan to expand housing supply and improve affordability across the region, including:

  • Streamlined approval pathways for new residential developments in designated growth zones
  • Co-investment with regional colony authorities to deliver essential services alongside new housing
  • Targeted support for first-generation settlers and key workers
Getting housing right on the frontier means planning ahead, not catching up. This draft strategy gives Outer Rim communities a real say in how their settlements grow.Dr James Hadfield, Secretary, Department of Interstellar Planning

Have your say

The draft strategy is open for public comment until 20 June 2127. Feedback received will inform the final strategy, expected to be published later in 2127.
