The corridor has been identified as a priority through the department's Strategic Planning Schemes, with construction to begin in the first quarter of the next planning cycle. The investment will be delivered in partnership with system governments and regional colony authorities.

Where the investment goes

Projects have been selected on the basis of community benefit, transport-safety outcomes and readiness to commence. Priority has been given to routes that connect emerging colonies to essential services, orbital transport hubs and inter-system freight networks.

  • Upgraded hyperlane beacons along more than 40 light-years of established corridor
  • A new orbital interchange serving the Proxima Region
  • Resilience works to protect freight movement through the Orion debris field

Next steps

Detailed project lists for each region will be published in the coming weeks. Community members can register for updates or make a submission on the proposed upgrade through the department's consultation portal.
