The package will be delivered over the 2127–28 financial cycle through the department's regional investment programs, targeting settlements where growth has outpaced existing transport, health and communications infrastructure.
Where the funding goes
Priority has been given to projects that connect emerging colonies to essential services and reduce travel times to regional hubs. The package includes:
- $410 million for transport and hyperlane connections into growth corridors
- $260 million for communications relays and health service outreach
- $170 million for community facilities and local infrastructure grants
This investment backs the communities doing the hard work of settling the frontier. It means faster transport, better services, and a fair share of the Commonwealth's growth. The Hon. Amelia Vega MP, Minister for Interstellar Planning and Infrastructure
Next steps
Funding agreements with system and regional colony authorities will be finalised over the coming months, with the first projects expected to begin construction in early 2128. Colony authorities can register interest in the Connected Colonies Program, one of the delivery mechanisms for this funding.
Further detail on individual projects will be published as agreements are signed. General enquiries about eligibility can be made through the grants and programs section.
